Baptist leaders in the news

Over the past 7 days some Baptist leaders have been making headlines for different reasons. The Biblical Recorder has given you those stories as they break. Tom Elliff, president of the International Mission Board (IMB), announced his plans to step down as soon as a replacement is found. He has been a strong leader at the IMB and through his long ministry as a pastor and missionary.

David Dockery, former president of Union University, has accepted a new position at Trinity International University. Dockery has been a strategic leader in Southern Baptist life.

Then, last Friday the Biblical Recorder broke the news that Clint Pressley, senior pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, will be nominated as the first vice-president of the Southern Baptist Convention in this June’s annual meeting in Baltimore, Md. Ted Traylor, senior pastor of Olive Baptist Church, Pensacola, Fla. will nominate Pressley.

This is why we are here! People need to know what is going on in Baptist life, in the world of Christian missions, in cultural/political debates and in other important aspects of ministry. News is always happening! I hope you will let us be your source for important news and information.

Last Sunday I preached at University Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte. A man approached me to share how valuable the BRweekly has been to him since he signed up last year. I really appreciated his enthusiasm over the way we are helping him and others stay informed. Thanks, Don!
