Do not be deceived
It is my privilege to speak in many churches, associational meetings and special events. One of the key points I emphasize is the high measure of dishonesty and deceit around us. We need to be keenly aware of the way Satan works to propagate lies. That is his work. Jesus called the devil a "liar and the father of lies."
The fingerprints of Satan are all around us, requiring a greater sense of discernment. Paul wrote, "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent ..." Philippians 1:9-10. Either we will grow in discernment or we will be devoured by the world’s deceit.
Are you getting healthy, spiritual food from God’s Word to grow in discernment? The Bible says, "But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil," Hebrews 5:14. Learning to discern the difference between good and evil – that is the key!
Last week in this column I issued the warning that there would be a lot of deceptive chatter after the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision. It has been coming with hurricane force! For example, Tuesday I received a political email from a public official who labeled the decision as "a huge setback for women’s access to birth control." This is completely wrong and focuses on the wrong elements of human need. Be careful what you believe!
Have you seen the movie "America - Imagine the world without her"? I have not seen it, but several friends who saw it last weekend said the Biblical Recorder is mentioned. Check it out and let me know what you think. And watch for the release of the movie "Persecuted." We featured an excellent review of the movie by Ginny Dent Brant.
I hope the stories in the Biblical Recorder and at BRnow.org will encourage you to walk in God’s perfect will. Do you have access to our digital edition? It is a full replica of the print edition. Subscribe today so you will not miss anything!
