Impacting lostness & confronting Ebola
Pam and I were privileged to spend a few days this week with Dennis Nunn at The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. Dennis is a staff evangelist for First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga., and leads a very effective evangelism equipping ministry. He led a group of pastors, associational missionaries, evangelists and church leaders in a training event, equipping us to train others in personal witnessing and to create a culture of evangelism in the church. The participants came from many states – mostly from the South – but Dennis put in a good word for North Carolina. He told these leaders he is excited about N.C. Baptists’ vision to impact lostness through disciple making. If you missed this outstanding training opportunity, visit Dennis’ website, EveryBelieveraWitness.org to learn how your church can reach the lost more effectively.
Ladies, here is a quick reminder. A great women’s prayer and evangelism weekend at Ridgecrest is approaching. This will be a powerful time of inspiration and challenge from godly women who understand the path you are walking. Click here to learn more and to register. (Hint: check out the breakout sessions!)
Some in the media are making much talk about the two medical missionaries who contracted the deadly Ebola virus while serving patients in Africa. Now the two, who work with SIM International and Samaritan’s Purse, are back in the United States for treatment and care. Today I received a prayer letter from a missionary friend in West Africa. He said, "As of yet, we have not seen any Ebola cases in our area, but it is a dreadful disease, and we ask you to please pray that God’s will be done here, in West Africa, as it is in Heaven. We know God is in control of all things. ... Pray that His purposes be realized and that He will put an end to Ebola."
We really need to pray for those stricken with Ebola and for those who are ministering to them. If you would like a very good perspective on the controversial comments of some, read Alvin Reid’s blog here.
Tell someone today that Jesus loves them.
