College merging in the news

The merging of Piedmont International University and Tennessee Temple University is a very strategic and interesting move. Read the story here. Both schools prospered among independent Baptists in a time when the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) was slowly drifting away from our biblical moorings. Both were intensely opposed to cooperation with Southern Baptists at any level. But as the conservative resurgence swept over the SBC, both schools began to soften their anti-SBC stance. In fact both schools have taken steps to embrace the Baptist conventions in their respective states. Temple officially adopted the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Piedmont has invited leading Southern Baptists to serve on the school’s board of trustees. Alex McFarland, Rick Speas, Dennis Nunn and Chris Byrne are some of those. I was recently invited to serve, also. It will be interesting to see how God uses the school to provide a Bible-based education in North Carolina and beyond.

North Carolina Baptists’ three-year-old partnership with Moldova continues to grow and produce great fruit. Read this story to see what God is doing with the partnership through Hephzibah Baptist Church in Wendell. Is your church interested in a dynamic, effective partnership overseas? Pastor Aaron Wallace wants to talk about it.

Are you praying for our North American missionaries and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions? Please pray every day for the needs of each missionary to be met with overflowing abundance.
