Annual meeting concludes

Your Biblical Recorder staff has been completely invested in the annual pastors’ conference and annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina for the past three days – and for many weeks of preparation. These meetings are always physically exhausting, but very rewarding. It is our privilege to serve you and provide the news and information you need. One story about the pastors conference was posted Tuesday. More stories will follow so check BRnow.org regularly.

It is a highlight of the annual meeting for our staff to meet you at the Biblical Recorder’s booth in the exhibit hall. We really enjoy getting to know you, hearing your stories and learning how we can serve you. Many of our board members also assisted you at the booth. I am very thankful for their investment of time, and glad many of our readers were able to meet some of our board members. These men and women are very important to our work!

One of our board, pastor Lee Pigg, preached the convention sermon for the closing session on Tuesday evening. Lee was also recently elected as vice president of our board for the coming year. Our new board president is Jerry Stephens, a layman from Morganton. Angela Brady is our new board secretary. She serves with her husband, Todd, who is the lead pastor of The River Community Church in Fayetteville.

I gave a report for the Recorder in the Tuesday morning session of the annual meeting. A very important part of the report was a video featuring comments from the president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and three leading pastors in our state. We will soon post the video on our website. I want you to hear what Danny Akin, Greg Mathis, Michael Smith and Rit Varriale shared. I really appreciate these men and their support for the ministry of the Recorder!

Thank you for spreading to the word about the Biblical Recorder to your friends and fellow church members. People need to know!
