Senior adults, NDP, seminaries

On May 1, it was my privilege to share a biblical challenge with the senior adults of the South Fork Baptist Association. It was incredible to see a “sold out” crowd of 300 senior adults gather in the beautiful, new facilities of Mount Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. This is an annual event that has grown significantly. Associational Missionary Keith Hollar is leading South Fork’s 70 churches into outstanding Great Commission missions and ministry in the region. Here’s a hint to whose who lead other Baptist associations. If you want to see 300 senior adults in your association come together for a good time of fellowship and celebration, give Keith Hollar a call.
Thursday, May 3 is National Day of Prayer. Please support the prayer gatherings in your church, neighborhood, school, city, town or business. Pray for the leaders of our nation, states and local communities. Pray for churches and church leaders. Visit the National Day of Prayer website to learn about prayer events and to discover resources that will guide your personal prayers.
This week’s print edition of the Biblical Recorder headlines the progress of our six Southern Baptist seminaries. With the support of Cooperative Program dollars, these seminaries produce long-lasting fruit through the students they train for ministry around the world. These are exciting days for our seminaries – beginning with Southeastern Seminary right here in North Carolina. Plan to visit these campuses and see for yourself!
For some time I’ve wanted to share some comments about the importance of being teachable. Space is limited in the print edition, but I hope this week’s brief editorial will prompt us to evaluate ourselves and consider how teachable we are. Read the editorial here. I hope you find it helpful.

Congratulations to North Carolina Baptists who received awards for their work in communicating our message – esspecially the Biblical Recorder's Seth Brown who took home the top prize in newswriting for the second year in a row! Read the full story here.
