One of the most enjoyable things I do as editor of the Biblical Recorder is to speak in churches, associational meetings, conferences and other special events. I enjoy face-to-face fellowship with many North Carolina Baptists in these gatherings. It’s both refreshing and enlightening to fellowship with our larger family of faith.

Such was the case last Sunday at Trading Ford Baptist Church in Salisbury where I preached for Pastor Mike Motley. He has served this congregation for more than 18 years. In many rural settings, churches experience decline. But Trading Ford is thriving under Mike’s leadership. The church just paid off the debt on a new worship facility. The people are involved in hands-on missions in their community and overseas. They’ve made changes in ministry where needed without changing the message of scripture. The worship services are alive. Keep up the great work, brothers and sisters!

The first day of August is like a warning bell. It’s message says summer is almost over and school starts again very soon! Churches gear up for seasonal fall and winter ministries. The nominating committee is looking for volunteers, and the budget and finance committee begins preparations for next year’s budget.

As your church weighs the best use of the member’s generous gifts, do you realize that mission dollars grow when people are informed? As church members read the stories of lives changed by their investment in missions, they give more. So, putting the Biblical Recorder in your church budget is a strong investment in missions. If your church does not have a group subscription plan, we would like to help you get an economical plan in your church budget. Please contact Liz Tablazon, BR’s circulation manager. She will be glad to help you. Call 919-459-5693 or email liz@brnow.org. Get the BR advantage in your church. I believe this will strengthen Kingdom ministry.

Our apologies: If you recently experienced a problem purchasing a subscription on the Biblical Recorder's website, we apologize. We are installing a new shopping cart and hope it will be fully functional this week. Thank you for your patience!
