Who We Are

The Biblical Recorder has been the news journal for North Carolina Baptists since 1833. In recent years, the medium of this website has given us another avenue to communicate with our audience all over the world. Our purpose is summarized in three goals:

  1. We will be biblical. This is a key word in our organization’s name, so we want to live up to it. We are committed to the Southern Baptist Convention’s convictions on the Bible as stated in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  2. We focus on the Great Commission. Jesus Christ died for all who will come to Him by faith. Before He ascended back to heaven, He gave His disciples one assignment. We call it the Great Commission. (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20) This assignment is the focus of Baptists. We want to be faithful to keep this our focus.
  3. We strive to glorify God. We exist for the glory of God. The Christian church is not about our good deeds or frequent activities. It is about doing everything for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

We are supported by your subscriptions, advertising and your generous gifts, most of which come to us through your Cooperative Program gifts through the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. Thank you for your support!

We are governed by twenty members of our Board of Directors. Each is elected by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and serve 4 year terms. They meet at least two times annually.

Please let us know how we can serve and encourage you and your church as we partner with you for the glory of God.
