In this week’s print edition of the Biblical Recorder, we included a Q & A with Rit Varriale on his book Reformation in Responsibility: A New Ethic for a New Era, and I shared some comments about the book in my editorial. This collection of 20 short essays will challenge your thinking. The book addresses the current social, spiritual and political crisis from the perspective of a Biblical worldview. (See the lead story in this e-newsletter.)

Rit Varriale is the pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Shelby. He has a keen mind and a strong commitment to biblical truth. In March he published the book and launched a companion website RinR.org. It is available in the downloadable version for Kindle or Nook.

Pastors and church leaders need to know about this book and read it carefully. It is a powerful resource for your congregation, especially at this critical time in our nation’s history.

I believe the next four months hand us a prime opportunity. The 126 days from July 4 through Nov. 6 afford us a window of time to address the spiritual needs of the United States of America in an unprecedented way. I hope pastors will use this time to speak clearly and biblically on the issues that are destroying our churches, our nation and our world.

I strongly encourage you to order multiple copies of the book and use it in small groups. Varriale says, "Make no mistake about it, irresponsible individualism is a societal cancer, and it will destroy our country if the majority does not stand against it." We can and should impact the direction of our nation, and we must do it immediately.
