Many great stories this week

Mark Harris ran a good race for the U.S. Senate, but he did not get enough votes to win the Republican primary on Tuesday, May 6. There is one thing I am certain he accomplished. He has preached a message from the prophet Jeremiah about 50 times across the state since early December. I heard the sermon twice and was challenged each time. It is a very powerful word that every Christian needs to hear. Knowing the way God works in multiple ways and on many levels in life, I believe Harris has made a great contribution to the spiritual strength of every church where he preached and every person who heard this message.

This week’s issue of the Biblical Recorder and our website BRnow.org are really packed with stories of challenge, motivation and encouragement.

1. I have compiled the highlights of Russell Moore’s powerful sermon at the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission’s recent Leadership Summit. This is some really life-changing stuff!

2. A major ruling was handed down by the Supreme Court this week. Prayer was ruled to be legal at government meetings. This is a major decision and a victory for religious liberty!

3. Do you regularly memorize scripture? Andy Davis, pastor of First Baptist of Durham, has memorized 35 books of the Bible. His story is both encouraging and challenging. Read the story here.

4. On April 26 I enjoyed one of my most interesting story assignments. I worshipped with about 400 Karenni believers as we ordained the first Karenni (Burmese) pastor in the U.S. You really should read this to see how God is at work to bring the people of the world to North Carolina.

5. Two years ago this week North Carolina approved an amendment to our state constitution that defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Thursday there will be a celebration of that victory in Raleigh. Please read this story and learn more about the event.

There's a lot more on BRnow.org. Thank you for depending on us as your trusted news source.
