A miraculous story

On Sunday, May 4 I preached for Pastor Brian Langley at Kure Beach First Baptist Church. Walking down the halls of the church before the service, I saw a familiar man coming toward me, and I hesitated for a moment in great surprise. The last I heard this man was at death’s door. I yelled out, "Mike Moore, is that you?"

Ten days later Moore shared his story in the chapel service at the Baptist Building in Cary. As I heard him explain God’s miraculous work in his life, I decided to let our readers know about our brother’s recovery. Sometimes we need to hear these stories to be encouraged and to be reminded how our great God is at work around us. I hope you will give God glory as you read Moore’s testimony.

One year ago the board of directors for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina approved a new strategy for reaching our state with the gospel. The aspect that seemed to be of greatest concern to many was the change in collegiate ministry. I wanted to learn how that strategy is working. So, I interviewed all of the campus ministry team and wrote a story on their progress.

The first part, focusing on the strategy, is published in this week’s edition of the Biblical Recorder. The second part will give examples of how the strategy is becoming reality on some campuses. It will be printed in the next edition of the Recorder.

A project is quietly underway in our state that has the potential to make a powerful impact on how we reach North America – and ultimately the nations – with the gospel. Read this story by Michael McEwen on the work of Keelan Cook.

I hope you enjoy a great Memorial Day weekend and that you take time to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for our freedoms.
