Bordeaux will decline second term

C.J. Bordeaux dropped by my office Tuesday to share that he will not seek re-election as the president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Pray for his health as he steps away from this important responsibility. This is a good time to remember that we need to pray for our convention officers and other leaders. Their role is demanding and very important to Kingdom ministry.

In recent weeks Pam and I enjoyed visiting three very different churches in our state. All three are excited about God’s blessings on their fellowship. Osborne Baptist Church in Eden launched a movement of prayer and fasting at the beginning of the year. Watch for a story about this ministry in the next edition of the Biblical Recorder. This is a phenomenal church! Pray for pastor Steve Griffith and the great staff of this church as they impact lostness.

First Baptist in Matthews has called on me eight times in the last 14 months to preach during their pastoral transition. It was always exciting to worship with them. They recently called a pastor. We ran a story about Clay Smith in the latest edition of the Recorder. I believe the church is poised for great future. Pray for them and many other churches who have recently called a new pastor or will soon call God’s man to lead them.

Most recently we celebrated with Bethel Baptist Church in Edenton as they broke ground on a new building. Pastor Tracy Smith is faithfully preaching the Word, and the people of this historic church are united as they move forward to reach the youth of their Eastern N.C. community. I am telling part of their story in the next edition of the Recorder. This is an example of one of our great ‘small’ churches that is glorifying God in ‘big’ ways!

Please take a moment right now to pray for Christians in Iraq who are under severe persecution. Their property is being seized by very evil forces, and they are threatened with their lives if they do not convert to Islam. Pray!

Pray for revival in America!

I hope the stories in the Biblical Recorder and at BRnow.org encourage you to obey God and walk in His perfect will.
