Marriage redefined by courts again 

As expected, on Monday the three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in Richmond, Va., ruled 2-1 that homosexual men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry. The impact on North Carolina’s marriage amendment is not certain, but our state’s attorney general is prematurely moving ahead to enforce the panel’s action. Read more in the full story.

This week’s print edition of the Biblical Recorder is filled with stories about churches and ministries that are moving forward in God’s Great Commission assignment. I hope you are encouraged by each one. Give special attention to the movement of prayer and fasting at Osborne Baptist Church in Eden. God is doing a great work in that church through Steve Griffith's leadership. 

Each year LifeWay’s Thom Rainer publishes a list of the Southern Baptist Convention’s largest churches, as reported in the Annual Church Profile data submitted by each church. We extracted North Carolina churches from the list and published it for you.

Rainer's list made me curious about the average size of all SBC churches. So I gathered additional information from LifeWay and wrote an editorial about it. I believe you will find it interesting.

Last weekend Pam and I had a great time with Cameron McGill, his family, the good people at Dublin First Baptist Church and the wonderful vacationers/residents at Dublin's White Lake church. It is exciting to see how God is working to impact lostness in N.C.

Tell someone today that Jesus loves them and has purchased eternal life for them.
