Celebrate Jesus!

Sunday morning Pam and I enjoyed the privilege of worshipping at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Jan Mulder played some beautiful Christmas music from his newly released album. I hope you were able to read the story I wrote about his outstanding music in a recent editon of the Biblical Recorder. Pastor Steve Scoggins followed with a powerful message on the centrality of Christ from Philippians 1:21. What a way to celebrate the birth of Jesus!

Timmy Blair, the newly elected president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, has a very interesting life story. I enjoyed interviewing him and learning about the path God has ordered for his life. Read the story in this week's edition of the Recorder and online on BRnow.org. I believe you will be moved and encouraged to know the heart of this godly man. Pray for him as he gives leadership to our convention.

Michael McEwen, the BR content editor, has written a second report on the way collegiate ministry is developing in our state. Read the story and ask the Father how He wants to use you to reach college students in your community.

Several new stories and guest columns about the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO) for International Missions are in this week's edition of the Recorder. We can give thanks to God every day for the missionary personnel He has raised up and Southern Baptists have sent to share the gospel around the world. They need to know we are 100% behind them, praying for them and standing with them financially. We must give sacrificially to this year's LMCO.

Please keep praying for our missionaries. If you do not have a prayer guide, visit the IMB website for your daily prayer guide.
