Columbus convention approaches

In less than eight weeks messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting will gather in Columbus, Ohio, to call for national revival around the theme: "Great Awakening: Clear Agreement, Visible Union, Extraordinary Prayer." Convention-related news has begun to roll out with greater frequency.

This week you can read that president Ronnie Floyd will be nominated for re-election by N.C. pastor J.D. Greear, Ohio pastor Chad Keck will be nominated as second VP, Floyd assembled a team of pastors to lead a prayer effort, and the Credentials Committee has been named. Watch for news this week about the Tellers Committee and more details about the convention program.

Pray that God will bless the call for revival and that the meeting will be historic for His glory. The Biblical Recorder will be there, but we hope you will meet us in Columbus!

Next week could be very historic for North Carolina. The state legislature is expected to act on the proposed Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Read what Baptist leaders in our state are saying. At the end of the article, please notice the information about a gathering in Raleigh next Tuesday, April 28.

Also, please read this excellent column by Al Mohler, "How religious liberty dies – new rules of the secular left." Every Baptist needs to hear the message of this editorial.

Pray! Act! Pray! Be faithful! Read 1 Corinthians 15:58.
