Ask, then give

Sunday I did not have a preaching commitment, so Pam and I had the opportunity to spend some time with some good friends who serve in Asia. This couple spoke at one of our Baptist churches in the Raleigh area. We attended the church where they presented their story. Serving in a very challenging culture, they illustrated the hopelessness of the people they associate with daily and the lostness of the culture where they live.

I was moved by their passion for sharing Christ and by their message. They thanked Southern Baptists for every dollar that supports their work through the Cooperative Program and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO) for International Missions. It reminded me again that we may be approaching the most important LMCO in history. I am praying that Southern Baptists’ gifts will exceed all previous record offerings. I am praying that it will be an Ephesians 3:20 offering, "...exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think...."

Are you asking God for a specific, generous gift through LMCO this year? Are you going to support our missionaries with the most sacrificial gift you have ever given to international missions? Ask God to provide the resources to give. "You have not because you ask not" (James 4:2).

If you were not able to attend last week’s annual meeting in Greensboro, you can read the latest news on BRnow.org. We just posted stories covering President Timmy Blair’s sermon and the annual convention sermon by pastor Lee Pigg. Both men delivered passionate, biblical messages. If you missed last week’s convention highlights, read about it here.

Some closing questions: Is the Biblical Recorder being delivered to the homes of your church family, or are they getting the BR digital edition? Is this BRweekly going to your members' homes? Are your friends visiting BRnow.org regularly to get news from a biblical worldview? Why not?
