Abedini is FREE!

American pastor Saeed Abedini was released from an Iranian prison last weekend after more than three years of incarceration and torture. He had committed no crime other than being a Christian. We have prayed for his safe return. Now we give thanks for answered prayer. We rejoice that three other American hostages/prisoners were released by the Iranian government at the same time. Please pray for each of these men as they transition to a life of freedom. Pray for their families. They have suffered, also. Although they have reason to rejoice, all of them will go through difficult transitions, and they need our prayers.

This week is the 43rd anniversary of the horrible Roe v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court of the United States. It is a time to reflect on the decision to legalize abortion on Jan. 22, 1973. It is a time to recognize the sanctity of human life. The court ignored both science and the moral foundations of this nation in their conclusions. More than 55 million human casualties give evidence of the nation’s cold rejection of God and the church’s rejection of biblical courage.

Many churches recognized Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on Jan. 17. Many others will do so this coming Sunday. I was honored to preach a message on the subject at my home church, First Baptist Church of Cary, last Sunday. I pray that your church is equipping the believers to stand strong in a world that rejects truth and often intimidates those who love God. Remember, the Biblical Recorder provides resources to help you stand for biblical teachings on the sanctity of life.

The first Evangelicals for Life Conference begins Thursday (Jan. 21) in Washington, D.C. The Recorder will have a correspondent on site and provide coverage of the event. Click here to follow the live simulcast. That section of the East Coast may experience a serious winter storm during the conference, so pray for the safety of speakers and participants at the conference.
