Serving our missionaries

The lead story on the front page of this week’s Biblical Recorder illustrates the way our N.C. Baptist leaders are reaching out to missionaries who recently returned to the states, while reaching out to the people from many nations who now live in our state. A dinner at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem was a time to say "thank you" to missionaries who accepted the International Mission Board’s early retirement incentives. At the same time, Milton Hollifield and Chuck Register invited these mission personnel to continue their service in the Tar Heel state. Click here to read the story.

After I wrote the story about the dinner for our missionaries, I realized their perspective was not in the story. So I used my editorial page to share some of their responses to the evening. Please read what they had to say.

There is so much that can be said about the centrality of the resurrection in the Christian faith. Use this week to read and reflect on the power of the resurrection. Read the story in Matthew 27-28. Then read Paul’s commentary on the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15. Celebrate the living, risen Lord!

You may receive your printed copy of the Biblical Recorder a day late this week. The truck that delivered the papers to our mailing service experienced a breakdown and did not make the delivery on time. We apologize.

Please continue to give generously to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions and pray for those who are supported by the offering. Also pray for the men and women in the N.C. General Assembly as they convene Wednesday to respond to the "Charlotte bathroom ordinance."
