Supreme Court decision is stunning

This week your Biblical Recorder brings you a packed field of news. Read about another destructive Supreme Court decision that was handed down Monday, giving women the "constitutional right" to take the life of their own unborn child. Apparently the majority of the justices are fixated on a course of moral insanity. I cannot make any sense from their conclusions. The Family Research Council called the decision "clinically insane." Following the court’s announcement President Obama said the decision was good for "women’s health." Now, I’m even more puzzled. Since the Court’s Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 more than 30 million little girls were denied the right to be born and to grow into womanhood. I don’t see how anyone can conclude that this was good for their health. The moral depravity of our nation is stunning!

Be sure to read the second part of my series on civility. I finished telling Mark DeMoss’ story about his Civility Project, and I shared about others who are making attempts to bring civil conversation and behavior into the public arena. Civility has plenty of room for disagreement, but it does not allow those who differ to scream insults at the expense of reasonable arguments. Let me know what you think about civility. Has civility been abandoned? Can it be restored?

Last Sunday I had the privilege to have a small part of the morning worship service at Village Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The service honored Pastor Bruce Martin who retired after 25 years at the church. I shared comments along with other North Carolina Baptist leaders including Randy White, C. J. Bordeaux, Dennis Harrell and Steve Hardy. Video presentations where shared by Ronnie Floyd, Mark Harris and Milton Hollifield. We commended our brother for his faithful ministry and for finishing well. Well done, Bruce! Pray for this church as they seek God’s man to shepherd them in the next chapter of their ministry.

This week we're bringing you coverage of the recent SBC meeting in St. Louis. There’s a lot of news in SBC life. Depend on the Biblical Recorder to keep you informed with accurate news from a Christian worldview.
