Pastors' Conference to honor military, vets

OOPS! Don’t you hate it when you send out an email and realize that you did not say what you intended to say? As soon as last week’s BRweekly went out I realized my inaccurate choice of words about the anniversary of Martin Luther’s historical event. October 31 was actually the 499th anniversary of Luther’s challenge to the Catholic Church when he nailed his 95 Theses on the church door. But this same day also began a year-long celebration of the 500th anniversary by Protestants and Evangelicals world-wide. So for the next year, you will be hearing about the ways Christians are recognizing the significance of Luther’s courage and convictions. I apologize for any confusion by not stating this clearly in last week’s e-newsletter.

The annual North Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference is almost here. The conference president, Cameron McGill, has worked hard to assemble a program that honors God and appropriately recognizes our nation’s military personnel. The speakers have first hand experience with military service. Many of their stories are quite dramatic. Don’t miss this year’s conference. Click here to see the program lineup and schedule.

Hopefully, by this time next week the political ads will come to an end (at least for a while) and we will know who won most of the political offices. There is at least one thing you can count on in political races: Somebody is not telling the truth. I’ve heard a lot of verbal garbage from candidates. Most of it is slamming their opponent. In North Carolina secular media has really overworked the HB2 issue. Most of their reporting and editorials have not been accurate or honest. I shared some thoughts about their lack of integrity in this week’s editorial.

Also, N.C. Representative Paul "Skip" Stam has provided some facts that help set the record straight. Click here to see the truth about the HB2. Stam does a great job of exposing the liberal media’s propaganda.

Pray diligently for God to get glory through the aweful mess we call elections.
