He is our peace

I cannot count the number of times I said something that I later regretted. I realized I was either completely wrong, insensitive, inaccurate or inconsiderate. Sometimes I reflect on those moments and have that sinking feeling in my gut that makes me wish I could undo the past and start over. I did not represent Jesus appropriately.

That’s why I am so thankful for the grace of God. I need God’s grace all the time – not just at the moment of salvation. And, I need others to practice God's grace toward my failures, also.

In the letter of Ephesians, Paul described the impact of God's grace and mercy that brought us to salvation. He wrote to the church at Ephesus, "For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall," Ephesians 2:14, NASB.

I thought about this verse when I read the joint statement from Russell Moore and the ERLC’s executive committee. This is a wise and Christ-like statement. I pray that others will practice the same grace and allow Southern Baptists to move on with our main mission.

In this week’s print edition of the Biblical Recorder, two pastors announced their intention to nominate two other pastors for the office of president of the pastor’s conference in November. Also, I interviewed this year’s president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Cameron McGill, and shared his story with our readers. It’s good to know those who serve in offices of leadership. It is helpful to learn their heart and pray for them.

As always, there’s a lot of news to read this week. We hope you will be edified as you are better informed through the ministry of your Biblical Recorder. Then, share this news with others in your church family.

Keep praying for our North American missionaries and please give generously to support them through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions.
