BSC officers announce intentions

Some important news about convention officers is in the headlines this week. Cameron McGill, president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC), announced he will not seek a second term as convention president. Since first vice president Joel Stephens said he will be nominated for a second term in his current office, there is no incumbency for the president’s office. At the same time, Lee Pigg, pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Monroe, has announced his candidacy for the office of president.

We give you some important advance information on four very strong conferences in this week’s print edition of the Recorder. You need to know, so here is the scoop:

1. Here is the summary of the Pastor’s Conference speakers and schedule in November.

2. This story announces an open door to learn how your church can reach internationals at your doorstep through the Reaching the Nations conference in Wake Forest.

3. Katie Orr is the keynote speaker for the "Anchored" women’s retreat in October. Read her Q&A here.

4. A Q&A with Rob and Amy Rienow highlights the theme of an approaching Faith at Home Network Fall Conference event on Sept. 12.

BR content editor Seth Brown continues his three-part series on refugee ministry this week and Brian Davis, BSC’s associate executive director-treasurer, writes about the process of presenting a resolution at this year’s annual meeting. If you or anyone you know has any intention of submitting a resolution, this is valuable information.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the expression of Psalm 19:1 on Monday! "The heavens declare the glory of God..." Have a great week!
