IMB Sending service

Our International Mission Board has a "Sending" service scheduled for Wednesday night, Sept. 26 in Richmond, Virginia. These services were once called commissioning services and appointment services. In this special gathering, 66 men and women will be sent to an international mission field to bear witness to our Savior's death, burial and resurrection. Of those being sent, 22 have a North Carolina connection – 11 are connected through a sending church in our state and 11 are connected through their theological education.

We cannot list their names since most will serve in secure regions, but I can ask you to pray for the 66 and their children. You support them through your generous Cooperative Program gifts and through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions.

The Baptist State Convention of North Carolina’s board of directors held their last scheduled meeting of the year this week at Camp Caraway. Watch for news about new officers who were elected to the board and actions they took during the meeting.

One segment of the board meeting was given to a report from Richard Brunson, director of Baptists on Mission. He shared about the vast network of volunteers, feeding stations, recovery stations and the 600,000 meals that have been served in the first week since Hurricane Florence inflicted damage on the eastern region of the state. Be sure to read this story that tells some of the ways Baptist churches are serving their communities. Please take note of the new ministry point that is opening up this week at Temple Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Contact pastor Kelly Bullard if your church or community group would like to help.

Be sure to read all of the news on BRnow.org. Thank you for allowing the BR team to serve you and your church family.
