Floyd is elected by EC

Following what has been called “the worst kept secret in the SBC,” Ronnie Floyd was elected by the SBC Executive Committee as the CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention. Tuesday afternoon’s vote ended the year-long search following Frank Page’s resignation last spring. The search committee was unanimous in their recommendation, but the EC vote fell one-short of being unanimous.
Whether or not Floyd is the one you hoped to fill the post, it’s time for Southern Baptists to get behind him, pray for him and work together for the proclamation of the gospel worldwide. I like Dave Miller’s perspective on the SBC Voices blog. Bart Barber also shared his perspective on Floyd’s election to the SBC presidency in 2014. If you have not read these blogs, please do so. These men offer wisdom and insight that is worth our consideration.
I used this space last week to briefly share about my coming retirement and the election of Seth Brown as the new editor of the Biblical Recorder. In this week’s editorial in the print edition, I expanded on those thoughts. Please take a few minutes to read my comments.
This week’s print edition is packed with great news and information on Baptist life in our state and around the world. Don’t miss the outstanding article by our friend Blake Ragsdale, who serves on the staff of the Baptist Children’s Homes of N.C. This very relevant story on foster care is powerful.

Dont miss the story about the powerful new movie, Unplanned! I'm very excited to see the film take off at the box office. I hope it soars for many weeks!

Have a great week!
