Real 'Acts Men' and women

As those who call ourselves Bible-believing, New Testament people, we love the book of Acts! If we want to exercise New Testament theology, it is impossible to ignore the dynamic development of Christ’s followers through the pages of the Acts of the Apostles.

Reading about the phenomenal power of God falling on the early church, the dynamic growth of the church, the boldness of God’s new people, the rare teachability among the believers and the culture’s response to the message of the gospel gets our adrenalin pumping.

I especially like this text, “Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common” (Acts 4:32 NKJ). They actually lived with the kind of humility that made them ONE!

But we must not overlook the next verse, “And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.” Great power and great grace grew in the atmosphere of humble, sacrificial giving. WOW! What a formula for effective ministry!

We can do that, too! The lifestyles in Acts are intended to be repeated. This week’s launch of the North Carolina Missions Offering (NCMO) affords us an opportunity to be “... of one heart and one soul ...,” sharing our resources for the kind of ministry that is served by N.C. Baptist Men, church planting teams and beyond. These ministries are extremely important to “Acts” men and women.

Give generously to support NCMO in the same way the early church served in oneness and sacrifice. The gospel must advance in today’s world just as it did in the first century!
