Missions College and effective pastors

One of the best ways to bring fresh vision and new energy to a church is to get involved in an international missions partnership. It is amazing what it does to the life of a church fellowship.

The International Mission Board (IMB) is now offering churches a great training opportunity to establish healthy partnerships with churches in other countries. It’s called "Missions College," and will be held Jan. 13-17 at the International Learning Center, Rockville, Va.

Recently I spoke with Marty Childers, IMB missionary serving in South America, about the Missions College event, and I wrote a story to help churches understand the value of direct missions involvement. Take a few minutes to read the story in this week’s Biblical Recorder. This training will strengthen your church’s kingdom vision.

Also, I wrote a column about a N.C. pastor who has been serving the same church for 58 years. That is quite a record! Send me an email if you know about other pastors who have served the same church for more than 25 years. They should be recognized.

Pastors have great responsibilities and huge challenges. One of those pastors who has served faithfully in a time of horrible crisis is Tim Stutts of Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville. Please continue to pray for pastor Tim and the whole congregation. Read the story of their tragedy in this week's Recorder and on our website and a follow-up article available only online.

You will be blessed to read a great story about pastor David Ricker’s personal involvement in reaching international students in his community. He and his family demonstrate an exciting way to share the gospel with those God is sending to us!
