    Baptist Children’s Homes ‘resolves concerns’ over foster care reform

    The Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina said it has ‘resolved concerns’ with lawmakers over foster care reform legislation that could defund most congregate care programs. The organization is celebrating changes to the Family First Prevention Services Act of 2016 after holding “day-long negotiations,” although no official congressional action took place.

    Foster care reform could defund Baptist Children’s Homes

    The Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina is at the center of a congressional debate about foster care reform that would almost entirely defund congregate care facilities for children that have been removed from unfit homes. The Family First Prevention Services Act of 2016 redirects money to family services in order to prevent foster care placements.

HOMEBASE College Ministry operates on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee utilizing the former Baptist Student Union building.
