    After a unanimous decision, chairman of the board of trustees for Brewton-Parker College (BPC), Ray Sullivan, notified the public May 19 that Steven Echols will become the seventeenth president of BPC. Since January 2012, Echols has served as president of Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn.

    Brewton-Parker gets accreditation appeal

    Brewton-Parker College has been notified that it will remain an accredited member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges while appealing its accreditation status. BPC was notified of the decision Sept. 29 – 103 days after it learned on June 19 that SACSCOC was suspending its accreditation.

    Brewton-Parker to appeal accreditation findings

    The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Committee on Colleges handed down a split decision on June 19 on the academic standing of two of Georgia Baptists’ three educational institutions. The ruling affirmed the academic standing of Shorter University while removing Brewton-Parker College from its membership.
