    Hammond unanimously voted Ga. Baptist exec. director

    Georgia Baptist Convention Executive Committee members voted with a singular “yes” to a search team’s recommendation Tuesday (Sept. 11) that pastor Thomas Hammond become the convention’s next executive director. Hammond, 56, is lead pastor of First Baptist Church in Alpharetta and was president of the Georgia Baptist Convention from 2015-2017.

    California Southern Baptists have found themselves dispensing hope amid the death, destruction and weariness caused by more than a dozen wildfires burning across the state. The largest recorded fire in California history – the Mendocino Complex fire in the northern part of the state – has burned more than 340,000 acres, destroyed 147 homes and left a firefighter dead Aug. 13.
