    According to the organization Suicide Awareness Voices of Education, 15 percent of people who are clinically depressed die by suicide. Ninety percent who die by suicide have an existing mental illness or substance abuse problem at the time of death. One in 65,000 children ages 10 to 14 die each year by suicide.
