    Nine graduate from Fruitland Baptist Bible College

    Nine graduates of Fruitland Baptist Bible College were urged to contend for the Christian faith during commencement exercises at the Hendersonville campus. The school conferred associate degrees in religion/Christian ministry to eight individuals and a Christian leadership certificate to one. Branton Burleson, pastor of Covenant Baptist Church in Arden, delivered the charge to graduates.

    Longtime Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute (now College) leader, Kenneth Ridings, died today. He served as a teacher at Fruitland before becoming its president. He was 78. “Throughout his ministry, Dr. Kenneth Ridings was a living legend among Baptist preachers,” said David Horton, current president of Fruitland.

    James Dillard (J.D.) Grant was honored in a celebration of his retirement from Fruitland Baptist Bible College on Tuesday, May 27. Grant’s association with the school began in 1970 when he came to the campus as a student. Grant retires after serving as a professor, vice-president of academic affairs and most recently as vice-president of development.

    New students looking on the Internet for directions to the Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute will find detailed instructions to the campus, beginning with an exit off Interstate 26 and a map of the local area. But at least one student at the school probably needed more than just a quick look on the school’s website to find her way to class.
