    Second global hunger run set for Dallas

    Messengers and others attending the 2018 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Dallas will have the opportunity to participate in the second Global Hunger Relief Run to help feed the hungry. A coalition of Southern Baptist organizations is sponsoring the run June 13, the second day of this year’s annual meeting.

The lack of rain had lasted two years and had devastated crops so badly many villagers had run out of food. Soon, aid workers started unloading relief items including bags of food from trucks.

    Encouraging reports of transformed lives have come flooding in as Southern Baptist hunger ministries accounted for their stewardship of Global Hunger Relief resources in 2016. Reports from across North America revealed the gospel shared 1.6 million times; 20,046 professions of faith; 4,271 baptisms; 246,592 volunteers involved; and 8.6 million meals provided.

    Victor is one of thousands of people left homeless and hungry after Hurricane Katrina stormed through New Orleans in 2005. The trauma drove Victor to become significantly dependent on alcohol. He began to seek help from a feeding ministry at Gentilly Lowe’s, a neighborhood in Louisiana that was severely damaged by Katrina.
