    Abortion funding ban passes House, goes to Senate

    The House voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act. If it becomes law, the proposal would standardize prohibitions that now exist in various U.S. programs, in addition to blocking federal money for abortion coverage under the 2010 health care law.

    Planned Parenthood wins 1st round of Title X funding fight

    A federal judge on Jan. 19 blocked an effort by the state of Texas to strip Planned Parenthood of Medicaid funding. State officials announced plans last month to cut $3 million in funding, the final step in a long process to pull all government money from the nation’s largest abortion provider.

    Texas moves to pull Planned Parenthood funding

    Texas will no longer send $3.1 million of Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, according to a letter sent to the organization. The letter, from Texas Health and Human Services Commission Inspector General Stuart Bowen, gave Planned Parenthood 30 days’ notice before the state shuts off funding.
