Trustees approved a $23.4 million dollar budget, four new master of arts in missiology specializations, new undergraduate training sites and faculty promotions.

    The faded pulpit at the front of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s Leavell Chapel during the first week of March seemed out of place. Out of place unless one saw Billy Graham’s signature scrawled on its top. The time-worn, battered pulpit is the one used by Graham during his 1954 New Orleans crusade.

But he added, “God’s will is not something to be ‘found.’” Platt spoke at the NOBTS Missions Emphasis Day and referenced 2.8 billion people who have little or no knowledge of Jesus.

    A 2-year-old child died Jan. 11 while eating lunch at the Early Learning Center (ELC) at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The child lost consciousness after choking on food just after noon Thursday. Efforts to resuscitate the child by members of the ELC staff and EMS responders were unsuccessful.

    Even as family and friends mourn the loss of a loved one, they are celebrating the Christ-honoring legacy left behind by Emily Martin, an interim youth leader who died Jan. 1 while serving on her third mission trip to Kenya. Martin passed away following complications from a blood clot that developed inside her lungs.

    Jerry N. Barlow, professor of preaching and pastoral work at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, died Nov. 11 after a brief illness. He was 72. Though battling his own health issues, Barlow ministered to others through the final week of his life.
