    Volunteers needed as Ridgecrest attendance climbs

    LifeWay’s Ridgecrest Conference Center celebrated record attendance last year as approximately 70,000 guests visited the Blue Ridge Mountain retreat site. “It was the most people we’ve seen in almost 30 years,” said Art Snead, executive director at Ridgecrest. “The fingerprints of God’s blessings are everywhere.”

    Billy Graham statue finds new home at Ridgecrest

    A statue of Billy Graham has been installed at Ridgecrest Conference Center in the North Carolina mountains. The statue was removed from LifeWay earlier this summer and placed in storage until the new site was ready. Workers installed the sculpture in October, just miles from Graham’s mountaintop home.

    LifeWay Christian Resources is moving a larger-than-life statue of Southern Baptist evangelist Billy Graham from its downtown Nashville location to a LifeWay retreat center in the North Carolina mountains, a few miles from Graham’s home. The move is prompted by last year’s sale of LifeWay’s 15-acre Nashville campus.

    Gardening at Ridgecrest is a second career for Betty Reaves, who retired nearly 20 years ago from Georgia Southern University. She and her husband George enjoyed traveling and volunteering together at Ridgecrest and other conference centers – she in the gardens, he in woodworking – until he died in 2006.
