    Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary launched a new center dedicated to the study of the ancient church – the Southwestern Center for Early Christian Studies. A new website, special lectures, patristic reading groups, regular graduate and postgraduate seminars and a group of faculty and students dedicated to researching the early church are all features of the new initiative.

    Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s trustees approved a new master’s degree in philosophy and reaffirmed the seminary’s media policy during their Oct. 17-19 fall meeting. Trustees elected seven faculty members and promoted three others during their sessions at the Fort Worth, Texas, campus.

    When viewed through the otherworldly lens of “Pokémon Go,” Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is home to three “gyms,” or virtual meeting places, and nearly three dozen “Pokéstops,” or landmarks. Thus, numerous Pokémon participants – enthusiasts who wouldn’t otherwise trek to a seminary campus – have made their way to the seminary as they play the game.
