    Work continues one year later in the Philippines

    Nov. 7 was the one-year anniversary of Typhoon Haiyan, the category five storm possessing winds of up to 235 miles per hour – 6,300 people died and 4.1 million were displaced. In the past year, Baptist Global Response conducted many projects on affected islands, including rebuilding schools and homes.

    Typhoon Haiyan struck Tacloban, a city of 220,000, and took the brunt of Haiyan’s 195-mph winds on Nov. 7, 2013. Since then, disaster response organizations in five Southern Baptist state conventions have each adopted an area of the Philippines to provide long-term aid.
