    Although it was a one-day evangelism rally, organizers are envisioning it as a catalyst for stirring Southern Baptists to share their faith. The West Tennessee Evangelism Rally at Union University drew more than 800 attendees to hear key pastors and evangelists relay advice and encouragement for local Baptists’ evangelistic efforts.

    Union University has named Nathan Finn of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as dean of the university’s School of Theology and Missions. Finn, director of the Center for Spiritual Formation and Evangelical Spirituality and associate professor, has taught at the seminary and held a variety of positions there since 2006.

    Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver was selected as president of Union University in Jackson, Tenn. Oliver will be Union’s 16th president. He comes to the post from the presidency of East Texas Baptist University and succeeds David S. Dockery who served as Union’s president for the past 18 years.
