The messengers affirmed biblically based stances on such topics as same-sex marriage, racial reconciliation and the sanctity of human life, as well as religious persecution and pornography.

    Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) President Ronnie Floyd has named the members of the Committee on Resolutions for the June 16-17 SBC annual meeting in Columbus, Ohio. Floyd appointed the committee in keeping with the provision in SBC Bylaw 20 that its members be named 75 days prior to the start of the annual meeting.

    The Committee on Resolutions and Memorials met via telephone conference call Oct. 30 to consider the “Resolution in Support of Religious Liberty.” The resolution was approved unanimously by the Committee and will be presented at the Annual Meeting Nov. 10-11 as part of the committee’s report.

They also heard a report related to the social use of alcohol and affirmed a recommendation involving the BF&M.
