Bill Warren, president of the network and senior pastor of Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury, Md., announced the resignation to the network staff and read the following statement written to them by McRaney:

“I count it a privilege and honor to have served the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network with you for the last 21 months. The Lord moved Sandy and me to this region for a great purpose and mission. We have strived to perform at the highest levels of excellence while working tirelessly to advance God’s message of reconciliation and redemption to the people of this region in partnership with you.

“We are immensely thankful and blessed for the time that the Lord designated for us to serve beside and with you. We will pray for you. We will be seeking the Lord’s refreshing and be open to His next assignment. But until then, we will continue to love neighbors and share Christ.”

Warren said, “We accept the resignation of Dr. McRaney with nothing but our best wishes and prayers for his future service to our Lord. May God’s peace rest with him and his wife Sandy. We love them and will miss them. We move ahead confident that God will guide our network and bring glory to His Name as we follow Him with surrendered hearts.”

Mark Dooley, president of the network’s General Mission Board and senior pastor of Leonardtown (Md.) Baptist Church, said, “It has been a privilege to serve as the president of the General Mission Board for all but the first couple of months of Dr. McRaney’s tenure in Maryland and Delaware. His vision has energized our network of churches in many ways and enabled us to reconnect both with one another and the Great Commission. As he and his wife Sandy move on to the next phase of ministry the Lord has for them, I am confident that God will use them in that assignment just as He has here in Maryland and Delaware.”

Harold Phillips, chairman of the General Mission Board’s administrative committee and senior pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Port Deposit, Md., said, “Will and Sandy McRaney are loved by Maryland/Delaware Baptists. Their love for the pastors and their families of the network will be remembered for years to come. It saddens me and my wife Corkie to know that they will be leaving us, but we wish them well in their newest endeavors. We pray that God will continue using the gifts He has placed in them.”

McRaney, a former Florida Baptist church planting and evangelism strategist and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary professor, was elected as the executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network in September 2013.
