During its annual meeting the Baptist Communicators Association held the Wilmer C. Fields awards April 13 in Fort Worth, Texas, and three North Carolina Baptists received awards in the competition.

In the audio-visual communications division, K Brown of the Baptist State Convention of N.C. (BSC) won first place for “Let My Soul Fly,” a photography digital slide show. He also received an honorable mention in the Institution category for Transform122. In the photography division, Brown’s “Everybody say Ah” single won first place in the web/multimedia category. He also won first place for “Let My Soul Fly” in the series category.

Traci DeVette Griggs, formerly of the BSC, received a first place win for an audio editorial that she did for UpClose.

In the news writing division, Dianna L. Cagle, Biblical Recorder assistant managing editor, placed second in feature writing for a newspaper series for a collection of stories about the Seven Pillars of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. She also got an honorable mention in the newswriting division for a newspaper single story for “Bold Challenge,” about Tom Elliff, IMB’s (International Mission Board) new president.
