A new partnership is underway between The College at Southeastern (C@SE) and Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) to help students develop technical and ministerial skills for an ever-increasing bi-vocational ministry platform.

On Oct. 22, Jamie Dew, dean of C@SE, and Levy Brown, vice president for academic affairs at VGCC, signed the Memorandum of Understanding, signifying the beginning of the partnership of the two schools. The signing ceremony was held at VGCC’s Civic Center in Henderson, N.C.

The partnership will allow students who begin an associate’s degree, diploma or certificate at VGCC to pursue a bachelor of science at C@SE.

“It’s not every day that a partnership is formed with this much potential,” said Dew. “This partnership allows us to equip our students to give their lives for the cause of Christ, in the Church, among the nations, and in every aspect of society, while also equipping them with the vocational skills that they need to fulfill their calling.”

Students who enroll at VGCC can earn credit toward any of the school’s 37 associate degrees, 37 certificates or 14 diplomas. VGCC offers numerous academic options ranging from accounting and finance to carpentry and culinary arts.

Students who enroll in up to 12 hours of class credit per semester at VGCC and earn a minimum grade of a C in each of their courses can apply those credits toward a bachelor of science degree at C@SE. The college offers six bachelor of science degrees in biblical studies, Christian ethics, global studies, pastoral ministry, student ministry and Christian worldview and apologetics.

C@SE will also approve students enrolled in an approved degree Career and College Promise early track, a tuition-free, dual enrollment program for North Carolina high schoolers. See more information on Career and College Promise here.

This partnership will not only encourage degree completion among VGCC students but also allow for students to be equipped for ministry through C@SE, by becoming bi-vocational ministers for Christ.
