    NOBTS presidential search committee meets, selects chair

    New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s (NOBTS) 11-member presidential search committee held its first meeting Nov. 1. The group unanimously elected Frank Cox to chair the committee. The committee spent the day on the NOBTS campus in focused prayer and began developing a profile of the type candidate they are seeking to lead the seminary.

    New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) trustees named Chuck Kelley as chancellor of the school through July 31, 2019, and approved the accelerated M.Div. program during their fall meeting Oct. 3. Kelley announced his plans to retire from the school on July 31, 2019, during the Oct. 2 Founders’ Day chapel service.

    NOBTS President Chuck Kelley announces retirement

    New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary President Charles S. “Chuck” Kelley Jr., announced his plan to retire at the end of the current academic year during Founders’ Day chapel Oct. 2. Kelley will continue to lead the seminary through July 31, 2019. “This is the biggest decision of my life in a lot of ways,” Kelley said in an interview.

    The faded pulpit at the front of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s Leavell Chapel during the first week of March seemed out of place. Out of place unless one saw Billy Graham’s signature scrawled on its top. The time-worn, battered pulpit is the one used by Graham during his 1954 New Orleans crusade.

    Many believers struggle to “find” God’s will, David Platt said in chapel at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). But he added, “God’s will is not something to be ‘found.’” Platt spoke at the NOBTS Missions Emphasis Day and referenced 2.8 billion people who have little or no knowledge of Jesus.
