Live joyfully in light of the resurrection

As we reflect on Christ’s death, burial and resurrection during this Easter season, I have been thinking about how our relationship with Jesus evolves over the course of our lives. Though God does not change, as humans, we are subject to fickle emotions.
For example, when we first accept Jesus into our lives, we are elated and overcome with joy. We often cannot hold back our excitement about this newfound relationship. However, after many years of walking with the Lord, that initial excitement can sometimes begin to fade if we do not maintain fellowship with Him and we do not share Christ with others.
For some individuals, their relationship with the Lord is no longer novel. However, in our day-to-day lives, we should still meditate on the gospel and reflect on the goodness of the Lord, living life with the joy that He has placed in our hearts. We say that we are changed by the gospel, but how often does the reality of the miraculous resurrection manifest itself in our lives?
When Jesus was crucified, He took our sin, our shame and our unworthiness with Him to the grave. What a wonderful Savior!
My friend, do you realize that you now have the freedom to go before the Father at anytime?
The death of Jesus took care of the penalty for our sin and the resurrection of Jesus took care of the problem of sin. Through His power, we can overcome temptation.
My dear brothers and sisters, I urge you to seize this day.
As we ponder the fact that we were once condemned to die before Christ took our place, I hope that we will take this opportunity to live today rejoicing in our freedom in Christ.
May we rekindle the joy of our salvation. May we live today as though it was the very first day of our new life in Christ. We were once enslaved to sin, but now we have been made free. We should always be in awe of the Lord’s sacrifice for us and aware of His power working in us.
I pray that the reality of the resurrection will manifest itself fresh and anew in our lives so that it spurs us on to share the good news with others.
Imagine how different our culture would be if all believers lived in such joy of the Lord that they couldn’t help but share about what Jesus has done for them! Live each day in the reality of the power made known because of Christ’s resurrection.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” – Romans 8:11.
