Agency, committee reports a favorite, informative time

Welcome to Greensboro, and welcome to the 184th annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Our meeting in Greensboro is part of a legacy that has spanned many decades of dedicated Baptists who leave their towns and cities and congregate together in one place to worship, pray, fellowship and conduct the business of our convention. It is my distinct honor to welcome you, one and all. I pray that you, along with me and our officers, will experience the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in these days.
Many opportunities await you over the next couple of days. We will be worshipping with messages and music that will be uplifting and challenging. We will be focusing on allowing the Lord to do “Greater Things” through our lives for His Kingdom. We will conduct the business affairs of the convention, but for me one of the best parts of any annual meeting is the reports we hear from our agencies and committees. It is here where we see the real work of N.C. Baptists.
I am excited that on Monday night we will have a presentation from Michael Blackwell and our N.C. Baptist Children’s Homes. This is always a very special time, and you will be richly blessed to be here for that. I will be bringing the president’s address on Monday night, Milton Hollifield our executive director-treasurer will be reporting to us, and we will close out our annual meeting hearing from one of the most recognized names in all of Baptist life, Jonathan Falwell, senior pastor of Thomas Roads Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va. It promises to be a great time of spiritual uplifting, and I am personally glad you are here.

Our convention officers and staff are thrilled to be leading you in these next days, so pray for us as we lead. I will pray for you as we assemble – but most of all, may we enter the halls of this convention with open hearts and minds, ready for our Lord to do “Greater Things” in and through us in these days.
