Talking about what He says versus 'doing what He says'

I am not a theologian, as will be evident. So from a layman's point of view I have a very difficult time understanding all the fuss over women preaching. The scripture used to say they should not preach seems to imply this rather than stating plainly that "women shall never preach." There is scripture that plainly says we should love one another and tell the world about our Lord. Satan loves to meddle in the Lord's affairs. I just wonder: should we stay behind and amuse him or should we go forward and do what our Lord has clearly commanded? We sure seem to waste a lot of time talking about what we think He says and less time doing what He says.
