Brandon Mullis, pastor of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C., will be nominated for vice president of the 2026 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference during this year’s event.
Nathan Brooks, lead pastor of Glorieta Baptist Church in Concord, N.C., plans to make the nomination at this year’s conference, which is scheduled for Nov. 3-4 at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, N.C. The pastors’ conference is being held prior to the annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
In an email to the Biblical Recorder (BR) about the nomination, Brooks described Mullis as an encourager.
“Over the years of my friendship with Brandon, I have seen overwhelming evidences of the grace of God at work in his life, both in his pastoral ministry and in his ministry as a husband and father,” Brooks said. “Perhaps one quality that stands out in Brandon is encouragement. I can say this with confidence: To have Brandon as a friend in pastoral ministry is to be encouraged. He is quick with a listening ear and a kind word. His happiness and humility invites you to be his friend.
“But perhaps what makes Brandon so much of an encouraging friend is his consistent hope and joy in Christ. Nothing encourages this pastor more than to serve alongside a brother like Brandon who has so solidly placed his identity in Christ. He would no doubt provide that same steady encouragement and support for the president of the Pastors’ Conference in the office of Vice President.”
Mullis is a native of Indian Trail, N.C., and he has pastored Clear Creek Baptist Church for three years, beginning in June 2021. Previously, He served as a student pastor at three other Charlotte-area churches — Benton’s Cross Roads Baptist Church in Monroe; Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte; and Sharon Forest Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Mullis holds a master’s degree in church revitalization from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also studied at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte and Charleston Southern University in North Charleston, S.C.
Mullis also serves on the N.C. Baptist board of directors and is active in the Metrolina Baptist Association.
If elected, Mullis said he would seek to support and encourage pastors in the role.
“I am willing to be nominated for the VP position to serve in a role to support and encourage pastors,” Mullis said in an email to the BR. “I believe that what we need is a focus on healthy churches and the only way to have biblically healthy churches is for the pastors to be encouraged, heard, and supported.”
Mullis and his wife, Cassidy, have been married for 13 years, and they have three children.
Mullis is the first announced candidate for vice president for the 2026 N.C. Baptist Pastors’ Conference. Josh Fraley, lead pastor of Euto Baptist Church in Marshville, N.C., will be nominated for president of the 2026 conference.
Elections for pastors’ conference leadership positions are typically held two years in advance to allow adequate time for planning and securing speakers for the event.
