INDIANAPOLIS (BP) — The 2024 Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Books of Reports will guide Southern Baptists as they consider the convention’s business at the 2024 SBC annual meeting. The book, published annually, is filled with the convention’s primary documents and reports from each of the SBC’s entities and state convention partners.
“When I think of the Book of Reports, I think of three words: celebration, prayer and accountability,” said SBC Recording Secretary Nathan Finn.
“When we read the Book of Reports, we celebrate what God is doing, better know how to pray for our entities and are better equipped to hold them accountable to their respective ministry tasks,” he said.
Hard copies of the Book of Reports will be available at the SBC annual meeting in June. The digital version is online now.
“At a time when entity information is requested more and more often, it’s important to remember and acknowledge that much of the information many often seek is readily available in resources like the Book of Reports,” said Jonathan Howe, interim president and CEO of the SBC Executive Committee (EC).
Finn says the resource is the place to go to find detailed information about each of the SBC’s entities.
“Each entity offers a narrative of their activities over the past year. Further, the entities provide budgetary and statistical information to Southern Baptists,” said Finn.
Individual reports are available for:
- SBC Executive Committee
- Southern Baptist Foundation
- GuideStone Financial Resources
- International Mission Board
- Lifeway Christian Resources
- North American Mission Board
- all six SBC seminaries
- Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission
- Woman’s Missionary Union
“Upon reading these reports, it’s hard to come away with anything other than a deep sense of accomplishment and appreciation for the ministries of the SBC,” Howe said. “It’s obvious from the reports of our missionaries and church planters to those of our seminaries, God is moving in and through Southern Baptists in miraculous ways.”
The Book of Reports also records significant developments at the SBC Executive Committee over the last year, such as:
- Electing Jeff Iorg as president/CEO of the SBC EC.
- An update on the Department of Justice investigation into the SBC.
- Proposing a 2024-2025 SBC Cooperative Program Allocation Budget in the amount of $190,250,000 to be recommended to messengers at the annual meeting.
The SBC’s governing documents — the Charter and Constitution, Bylaws and Business and Financial Plan — are also included in the Book of Reports, which is online here and also available in the 2024 SBC Annual Meeting app.
The 2024 SBC annual meeting is set for June 11-12 at the Indiana Convention Center.
