Last year presented unprecedented challenges for everyone, but Baptists on Mission (BOM) was and is faithful to continuously direct resources and mobilize volunteers to bring hope and relief back to communities and individuals, many of which are close to giving up.
No matter what kind of disaster presents itself, BOM is ready to respond.
Churches and individuals from around the state are showing the love of Christ in word and deed to those whose lives have been upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of your gifts to the North Carolina Missions Offering (NCMO), ministries that provide relief and hope are made possible.
During the course of 2020, thousands of volunteers and more than 300 churches distributed more than 9 million pounds of food to communities and families in need.
Xzavier Curry, a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Charlotte, believes the reason she serves is simple. “This is about going out and doing what Jesus did,” Curry said. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Curry and other volunteers from her church have used the food boxes provided by BOM to minister in their community.
As many people face homelessness and lack of food, BOM and many volunteers from churches are able to step in and provide a box of food and a smile and minister to the tangible needs that are felt because of the pandemic.
Because of your gifts to the NCMO, Baptists are being mobilized across our state and around the world to provide relief in the midst of pain and disaster. Whatever the circumstance and no matter the cost, we’re called to bring relief to our hurting world through selfless acts of kindness and generosity. But more than providing temporary relief, we proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, which offers eternal hope.
