LOGAN COUNTY, Ohio (BP) — Disaster Relief teams from Ohio and Indiana state conventions are currently assessing storm damage that left three dead here Thursday evening (March 14).
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, storms in eastern Indiana and western Ohio likely included tornadoes. At least three were reported dead in Logan County, Ohio, with dozens injured in Indiana.
Indiana Disaster Relief is preparing to respond to damage in the towns of Selma and Winchester, with assessors, storm recovery, chaplains and a feeding unit. Work in support of first responders is expected to commence tomorrow morning and last for several days, at least, said state DR director Butch Porter.
Ohio Baptist DR assessors were working with the EMA to assess damage in Logan County and Indian Lake this morning. All roads into Indian Lake are closed with search and rescue underway. Another DR assessor reported minor damage in Huron, but not substantial enough to warrant a response, according to the EMA.
“The majority of the tornado damage is minor and residents are taking care of their own needs,” said Ohio DR director John Heading. “However, Indian Lake was seriously hit and unfortunately is now a mass casualty event.
“Ohio Disaster Relief is on standby to respond with volunteers and our quick response feeding unit. Please pray for those affected by this disaster.”
